She describes herself as “animal loving, Golden Girl watching, whiskey drinking, sassy molassy-just living, laughing and loving my way through life.”
She moved from Beaverton to Eugene in 2013, and is married with four kids, a Beagle, and a Siamese cat.
In addition to her work as a nurse, Melissa is also a representative for Plexus. Brandy says she discovered Plexus after years of being sick. “I had just left my ex-husband for domestic violence with our two babies while in nursing school and working full time-that had to be why I was so sick. But then I remarried, graduated, passed my NCLEX (thank goodness!) and got a good job. Yet, I was still as sick as ever. IBS like symptoms, not able to maintain a healthy weight and frequent bouts of bronchitis.”
Despite seeking help through traditional medical sources, she wasn’t able to find answers. “My doctor just wanted to prescribe medications and write me off as a "stressed-out Mom,” she explains.
Although she was already working two jobs at the time, she decided she wanted to be a part of Plexus also. “I have a small team that is growing steadily. We all have a passion for helping people reach their health and wellness goals and most of my teammates are healthcare professionals,” she explains.
Melissa lives in Eugene, but has clients all over the United States. Her ideal client is someone who is motivated to work toward health and fitness goals and willing to work on the underlying issues instead of quick fix.
Melissa advises other direct sales representatives to find a niche that you are passionate about. “Surround yourself with those that love and support you unconditionally and forget the haters (it's a reflection on their character, not yours).”
Her struggle is a familiar one to anyone who works for a direct sales company. “There is the stigma that is attached to it. I don't do this business for the money; I already have a good job. I do it because I am passionate about helping people and want to help others get healthy in a holistic way.”
Melissa mentions helping her grandma find non-pharmaceutical relief of her fibromyalgia pain through Plexus as one of her greatest accomplishments. She has also been able to help a friend improve his health. “He's like a new man! Happy, smiling and healthy!”
She also loves being a MOB Alliance member. “I love being part of a group of women that encourages and goes out of their way to help you whether it is for your business or personal life. I've made some great new friends! Going to the meet ups has forced me to get out of my comfort zone-though I still talk way too fast when my turn comes around,” she says.
